49 Second Romance is another track chosen by Christian who recalled having heard it for the first time in the clubs he frequented in the early nineties about ten years after its release. Having fallen in love with the simplicity of 49 Second Romance with its raw, naive minimal charm, its simple and direct lyrics and its icy cold atmosphere it was always going to be a strong contender for our re:vision³ series. Egoprisme on the other hand is a modern dark electronic act with a far more sophisticated sound so there were enough differences to make this particular musical challenge very interesting. We were really intrigued to hear how the minimal exposed beauty of the original track could be preserved in a more modern context without loosing its original underground edge. The result is absolutely bang on - from the unassuming intro to the intense climax this cover version is a little gem bursting with energy and attitude. Fast, intense and over too soon.
